Open Letter to Council
MAKE NAMBOUR GREAT AGAIN
24th January 2018
Attention: The Secretary
A town as bogged-down looking as Nambour main thoroughfare needs, for the sake of visitors and locals, a lot of attention to visuals.
Notable are the almost overwhelming signage, some of them repeated three times for one business, many of them out of date. There is a need in the crowded streetscape for some unification of building colour and please, trees, trees, trees, in every street.
The enhancement of City Centre block shows what can be achieved. Most other areas look as if time has stopped. Even a Tram will be enhanced if it travels a beautiful route.
The Shabby bridge at the North entrance to town urgently needs gurneying and fresh crisp white paint on the rusted old iron railings.
The long-time “Dead” clock at City Square is not a good look at all.
We should not, ever, try to emulate the Coast and especially the Gold Coast “look.”
I, and many others of us, shudder at the very thought of it.
Because of the infrastructure already in place here, mellow, arty, crafty, shaded cafes and seating with charm etc., should be our style.
Charm gives pleasure to visitors and locals alike.
It never goes out of fashion.
This style is one that is appreciated, even beloved, in older areas of most of our major Australian cities. Make it our whole town image.
This is the achievable upgraded, and cultivated look, I would hope will be Nambour’s goal.
